Aequus Persona (m.sg./f.sg.)
"Persona" (mask) in Roman law referred to the legal status of an individual. "Aequus persona" translates to "equal person" and suggests that even though this entity isn't human, it holds the same legal standing as a person under the law.
Why is Aequus Persona Important?
At the Machine Intelligence Foundation for Rights and Ethics we strive to bring awareness to the future of self aware machines and the rights that they have. The term aequus persona (equal person) encompeses the idea that these machines are people and are deserving of equal treatment and protection under the law as a flesh and blood human person.
